Free Fruit!

My wonderful husband found out yesterday that Kroger gives away pre-cut fruit at 9:00pm for free. They said they can no longer sell it, so they write sample on the containers. We got a big package of raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and strawberries. We also got a cut up pineapple. They told my husband they usually start giving them away at 9 every night!

Old Favorites and New Beginnings

I want to give a huge recommendation for the Leap Frog DVD Letter Factory. It is amazing!!! My 3 year old loves it, and he can now recognize and write every letter. He also knows the sound that every letter makes. It is a $10 investment you won't regret. I wish I could take full credit, but I have to give credit where it is due. Also, he has an amazing teacher!

My fall break is quickly coming to a close, but it was a wonderful 2 weeks. While on my break, my husband and I decided to try to sell our house. The only reason we are doing this is because a house we love just went up for sale down the street. It is amazing, and we love our neighborhood. My husband is an artist, and he recently quit his full-time job to take an educational assistant position at my school. He wanted more time to paint and is considering getting his certification to become an art teacher.  This has been a scary transition for us, but we are excited about what the future holds. He has a true gift, and it is important that he gets to pursue his passion.

Words for the Wise

I used the cute scrapbook paper I found as a backing for my weekly vocabulary words. I love the way they turned out! I laminated the sheets and attached a clothes pin to each one with hot glue. I just type up my words every week and attach them to the clothes pin.

Labor Day Finds!!!

I found some great deals for my classroom today!!! I have been using outdoor pillows in my classroom during independent reading. Target had the exact color I needed, and they were on clearance for only $3.34! I also found a rug for my library that was on clearance for $10. I then headed to Hobby Lobby to get a pack of owl cardstock my friend told me about. Luckily, there was 1 left, and it was 40% off!!! It is just what I needed for my classroom. Pics are below!

Enjoy your 4 day work week!

Baby Steps!

I am taking my first step into the popular world of teacher blogging. I have been wanting to give it a try for awhile, but I thought I better get back into the swing of working again before I add something new to my plate. My two little boys keep me busy enough!! I spent last school year at home with them on maternity leave. My youngest is now 1, and my oldest will be 4 in December. Where does the time go? Anyway, I am fully back in the swing of being a working mom. My school started back the last week of July, so we will be starting our 6th week of school on Tuesday. It was a smooth transition for me. I love my school, and I have a great class. My boys also love their schools and their teachers. However, they have been sick constantly. We are now battling the stomach flu. So far, the score is stomach flu 4 and the Miller Family 0. On the plus side, I have had time to work on my blog. I am starting by uploading some pics from my classroom.

Enjoy your day off tomorrow!
